Fasciae, Regulation, Pain & the Polyvagal Theory

through a contemporary and science-informed lens

Overview

— A 40 hours Continued Educational Science- and Trauma-Informed Course for Yoga Teachers, movement facilitators and curious practitioners. Cut through the noise and practice/preach/teach with clarity and confidence in your (inner) body.

“Your trauma is stored in your psoas but if you learn how to activate your vagus nerve and release your fascia by using these somatic nervous system regulating exercises, then you’ll be free for life.” Sounds familiar? These buzzwords are everywhere right now. It sounds lovely. It comes from a good place.

But what does any of it actually mean?

Driven by post-pandemic health awareness and a world in crisis, the wellness-industry have become a trillion-dollar industry (almost 7 trillion in 2026). In combination with short form-content taking over, many "educational claims" are now narrowed down to hooks, 10 second reels and very little space left for critical thinking, curiosity or depth. It's so easy to get wrapped up in methods and clever messaging but our bodies (and students's bodies) deserve better.

While the different methods and modalities can be incredibly useful, they are often presented as complete truths.

This course offers something different: a grounded, evidence-informed approach that respects complexity without losing accessibility. Rooted in contemporary research from neuroscience, movement science, and clinical experience, Embodied Anatomy bridges the gap between evidence and lived experience—without losing the depth and curiosity that brought you to teach and practice in the first place.

What Makes This Course Different

This is not about promising perfect regulation, quick fixes, or one “correct” way to teach. Instead, you’ll learn to:

  • Work with the complexity of the human system—not reduce it

  • Understand current science without oversimplifying it

  • Stay critical, curious, and adaptable in a rapidly evolving field

We’ll explore popular concepts—including fascia and nervous system regulation—with both openness and a critical lens.

what will you learn?

what will you learn about?

intention behind

Fascia — Beyond the Myths

  • What fascia is (and isn’t), based on current research

  • The role of fascia in movement, load transfer, and perception

  • Why ideas like “releasing fascia” are often misunderstood

  • How to apply concepts like myofascial continuity in a practical, grounded way

The Nervous System in Practice

  • A clear, usable understanding of the autonomic nervous system

  • How context, perception, and environment influence movement and pain

  • Why regulation is not a fixed state—but an ongoing, dynamic process

Polyvagal Theory — Useful Model, Not Absolute Truth

  • What the polyvagal theory proposes

  • Where it aligns with current evidence—and where debate remains

  • How to use it as a tool, without overpromising or oversimplifying

Pain, Safety & the Bigger Picture

  • Introduction to the biopsychosocial model

  • Why pain is not simply a sign of damage

  • How to reduce fear-based language in your teaching

  • Supporting students (and yourself!) with diverse experiences—without needing to “fix” them

Much of this knowledge is often only available to those studying to become somatic therapists, body-therapists or enrolled in specialised 300H Yoga Teacher Trainings. Consider this course an inclusive and foundational option to gain and explore some of the incredible science that makes YOUR BODY (our bodies) move, breathe, hurt, heal, live.

From Theory to Teaching

We’ll explore:

  • How to create classes/self-practices that support a range of nervous system states

  • Language and cueing that fosters agency rather than dependency

  • Adapting your teaching for stress, pain, and variability

  • Case-based examples you can bring straight into your classes

An Embodied Approach

Understanding is not just intellectual.

Through guided movement, reflection, and exploration, you’ll:

  • Experience concepts in your own body

  • Develop your own felt sense of variability, load, capacity and regulation

  • Build a more nuanced relationship to your own practice

what to (not) expect

highlights

who's it for

Expect:

  • Theoretical inputs

  • Group Exercises

  • Movement explorations

  • Reflective integration

This is not another “quick fix” training

  • Not a promise of permanent regulation

  • Not a set of rigid protocols

  • Not a simplified wellness model

We don’t aim to reduce complexity here.

Throughout the course we will be carried by Dunning Kruger's effect; an expert is rarely as confident as a beginner. Because an expert knows how much they don't know. They use critical thinking, refrain from absolutes and dare to leave questions unanswered.

To participate in this training you...

  • Are a movement professional, Yoga-teacher or educator seeking depth beyond trends and value nuance

  • Practice movement and want to get to know your body

  • Are open to learn new and let go of old dogmas

  • Are a curious nerd who's overwhelmed by all the DO's and DONT's floating around

  • Want scientific clarity and gain critical thinking skills

This may not be for those seeking fixed answers or step-by-step formulas.

This is a curious collaboration.

the facilitator

Nanna is certified Physical Therapist graduated from VIA University College in Aarhus early 2019 and have been geeking out in combining this with her knowledge of Yoga, somatics and neuroscience ever since. Nanna's goal is to soften the many misunderstandings that are floating around about bodies. In her words "the world becomes bigger when we (re-)learn how to speak body language. They're weird, living things and we must accept bodies don't organise neatly".

In her everyday-life Nanna is teaching & practicing Yoga herself next to also having clients with everything from chronic pains to dreams of handstands and splits. She's a writer too and writes about psychiatry, mental health, bodies and neurodivergency.

On her computer following tabs are open;

Youtube "Harmonium lessons for beginners"

Science news "Exercise may be one of the most powerful treatments for depression and anxiety"

Google "Why is 33 known as a Jesus Year"

Youtube "Black lotus Yoga First Series w. Ty Landrum"

Sports Medicine "Female, woman and/or girl Athlete Injury pRevention (FAIR) practical recommendations"

Pinterest "Mary Oliver poems"

Expect a full merge of these worlds under her guidance :)

Nanna is a an experienced spaceholder and have hosted events all over the world since 2017. Her teaching-method is nurturing no-nonsense combined with a big smile and laughs, so expect to be challenged as well as 100% supported as you're threading new waters.

She created this course to help YOU - the teacher - the practitioner - who might not have unlimited founds to take a full body-therapist-course or a 300H teacher training.

You still deserve access to this information. We all do.
